Group Photo: Beneficiaries of the medals at the Judiciary health fun
The beginning of the new Financial Year on Friday coincided with the 56th Judiciary Health Run, a feat geared at improving the overall health of its staff. The Judiciary headquarters grounds were filled to near capacity with a cross-section of participants who included Registrars who had been participating in a meeting with the Chief Registrars earlier in the day.
Unlike other runs that are purely aerobics, the 56th Run was marked with a tea party to mark the end of Financial Year 2021/2022 and welcome FY2022/2023.
For regular and active participants, it was a day to be recognized and awarded. The Principal Judge, Hon. Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija, who represented the Chief Justice, presided over the awarding ceremony.
A total of 35participants, including Judicial Officers and non-judicial staff, walked away with medals. Those recognized included; the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Alfonse C. Owiny - Dollo, the Principal Judge, Hon. Lady Justice Mutonyi Margaret (Judge High Court), the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, Dr Pius Bigirimana, HW Khainza Eleanor(Deputy Registrar, Magistrates Affairs and Data Management) HW, SsempalaDorothy Lwanga (Deputy Registrar Inspectorate of Courts), Ms Apophia N. Tumwine(Commissioner Human Resource), among others.
The Principal Judge congratulated the participants upon completing the Financial Year and commended those who received the medals for their efforts. "Don't look at the medals, but the benefits of the exercises," he said.
He thanked the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to Judiciary for the innovation of aerobics and urged participants to be regular and embrace the aerobics as they keep one fit. He wished everyone a blessed new Financial Year.
Dr Bigirimana, commended the participants for their zeal, teamwork, and turning up in big numbers and urged the participants to "maintain the spirit."
He further reiterated the need for all Staff of the Judiciary to embrace aerobics because of its immense benefits. "Exercises stimulate white blood cells responsible for body defence against diseases," he said.
The Chief Registrar commended the participants, especially the Registrars from different courts, for taking part in the event. Adding that newly appointed 85 Judicial Officers will be sworn in next week.
